Prayerful Reading
15/20 mins
Similar to combining the first and second steps of Lectio Divina, it involves the act of praying through the Scripture as you read.
How
Find a small portion of Scripture (e.g. the Psalms) that you would like to pray through. Read through the passage and then spend a few moments quieting your heart, asking God for help as you pray. If you would like some context read through the passages on either side.
After reading your chosen section as a whole again, go back to the start and read it line by line, or sentence by sentence, and pray about the meaning found in each line or sentence. Use the line or sentence of Scripture as a springboard for prayer, and then read the next line or sentence. Repeat the process.
